NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR

Abbie Gardiner, ND

I have it all together - I’m a professional, work-out-of-home mom with two small children. I’m incredibly organized, I always cook healthy, picture perfect meals for my family and I workout every single day … NOT! I’m human and I’m in this with you. I understand the daily struggles of juggling work, kids, relationships and time for myself.

I often get asked why I became a naturopathic doctor. Here’s my story.

For years I struggled with extreme fatigue. I slept well but woke up tired, yawned my way through the day and often caught myself dosing off at stop lights. While the conventional medical system supported me through investigations such as sleep studies and trials with medications, it wasn’t until I saw a naturopathic doctor that I uncovered the root cause of my fatigue. I remember contacting my ND, excited to tell her that “I didn’t know I could feel so good!!” and “is this how everyone feels?” This is what led me to naturopathic medicine.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not always energized. Especially since having children, the fatigue has crept back in, and I sometimes struggle with taking on too much and burning out. I feel fortunate, though, that I can now recognize this early and I have the tools to support myself through this challenging, but wonderful, phase of life. My experience as a mother has given me a strong appreciation for the load women (not always moms) often carry and in turn put themselves last on their to do list. This has ignited my passion for supporting women.

Through years of education, practice and parenthood, I have come to realize that we can’t do it all on our own. We deserve to have our voices heard, our concerns addressed, and extra support when needed. I understand this need and I’m here to support you with personalized naturopathic care. It is my goal to educate women on their body and their hormones and empower them to take control of their health. I do this through personalized health care.

And why Carman?

Having grown up in Morden, I understand the comfort and convenience of living in a small town. 5 minutes to get anywhere and neighbours that you actually get to know! My husband and I wanted this for our family. We hoped a sense of community would be waiting for us here and we were blown away by the kind welcome we received when we arrived. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to move to Carman.
